My house is full of bacteria.
And you’d be surprised to know it’s not actually thanks to my little Border Terrier, Milo, who loves to roll around in the grass where other dogs have peed, and then trot through the house with his dirty paws, then scoot his smelly little butt all over the kitchen tiles leaving a trail of skid marks.
Well, OK, usually that’s the reason, but not lately.
I’m actually the one who’s been smearing bacteria over everything; but it’s not what you think!
Probiotic Solutions make a range of eco-friendly, non-toxic, organic cleaning products containing probiotics, and because I love green cleaning (see my posts on cleaning with essential oils and DIY chemical-free foaming hand soap) they kindly sent me some to try out, so for the last month I have been spraying and wiping millions of good bacteria all over my home!
Conventional cleaning products use harsh, toxic and potentially carcinogenic chemicals, which, as they boast on their TV commercials, kill 99.9% of all bacteria.
This isn’t a good thing!
Microorganisms play a huge part in sustaining life. Probiotics, such as the good bacteria that live in your gut, help to aid digestion, absorb nutrients, support the immune system and fight bad bacteria!
Not only are the chemicals in conventional cleaning products harmful to your health, they also have the capacity to cause bad bacteria to mutate and become resistant and even more dangerous.
Probiotic Solutions uses naturally occurring, non-genetically modified bacteria in a combination of over 15 different strains, incubated and activated using organic ingredients in their factory in Botany, NSW.
The friendly bacteria in these products work to rebalance the bad bacteria in your home to create a balanced and healthy environment, and they keep cleaning long after you’ve sprayed and wiped.
These are the products I tried out.
Probiotic Solutions probiotic cleaning products
Anywhere Anytime – an all purpose spray, which, to me, smells a little like a ginger and lemon kombucha (apparently it’s even safe to drink although I probably won’t be serving it up at my next BBQ). I noticed that surfaces tend to stay wet a little longer than usual after use, but that’s fine with me because I know those little good guys are still battling it out with the baddies. I used it to clean bench tops, the fridge, the pantry, and even the floors by spraying it onto the microfibre mop pad that I had dampened with water.
Room Refresh – an all purpose deodoriser with the same ginger-lemon kombucha fragrance (ok, it’s actually lemon myrtle, lemongrass, pink grapefruit and rosemary, but whatever). It contains no artificial fragrances, which are full of cancer-causing VOCs, leaving the air perfectly safe to breathe.
Fresh Feet – spray it in your shoes and let the good bacteria fight off the odour-causing bad guys. I put it to a pretty good test by spraying it in my Ugg boots in which my feet have been sweating all winter, and I can attest that it works! Probiotic Solutions even suggest spraying it in your car, rubbish bins and kitty litter!
Their range contains 7 different products for different purposes (check them all out here), and I think I’m going to have to purchase the Mop Me next because, well, the dog and tile situation.
